Norbulingka Institute

Norbulingka Institute, founded in 1995 by Kelsang and Kim Yeshi at Sidhpur, near Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, India, is dedicated to the preservation of the Tibetan culture in its literary and artistic forms. Norbulingka Institute was founded in 1988 for preserving Tibetan culture, literature and art.It has been built in traditional Tibetan style located amidst gardens and ponds. The main sections of the institute are the Academy of Tibetan Culture, Literary and Cultural Research Centre as well as the Centre of the Arts. This beautiful attraction is just 15km far away from our hotel.

Library of Tibetan works & Archieves

The Library of Tibetan Works and Archives(LTWA) is Tibetan library in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh, India. The library was founded by Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama on 11 June 1970, and is considered one of the most important libraries and institutions of Tibetan works in the world. The library contains sources which were relocated from Tibet during the 1959 escape, including important Tibetan Buddhist manuscripts and archives related to Tibet’s history, politics, culture and even art. The second floor of the library contains a museum (opened in 1974) containing notable artifacts and items that date back to the twelfth century. This location is just 7km distant from hotel.

Aghanjar Mahadev Temple

At a distance of 15 km from Hotel , Temple is situated in the Khaniyara village at the foothills of Dhauladhar. This temple is believed to be five hundred years old. The Aghanjar Mahadev Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is believed that once upon a time when Arjuna, one of the Pandavas from the Mahabharata, was on his way to the Kailash Mountains, Lord Shiva appeared at this spot and blessed him with the boon of victory over the Kauravas. There are several idols of Lord Shiva and a Lord Hanuman statue. The temple is surrounded by forests, mountains and a little waterfall is situated behind the temple with continuous flow of water. There is also a small cave with Shivlinga near the temple. This Shiva temple and its surroundings offer a great relief. This is a beautiful place to relax and capture the beauty of nature and surrounding mountains.

War Memorial Museum

War Memorial is located at the entry point of the Dharamshala town and it was built to commemorate the memory of those who fought valiantly for the honor of their motherland. This place is ideally located in the pine forest of Dharamshala and offers a very pleasant walk through the woods. There are two main attractions nearby the War Memorial-the beautiful GPG College Dharamshala, made during the British Era and a café serving fast food and beverages. Surrounded by sprawling gardens, the elegant looking War Memorial is a tribute to those brave souls who sacrificed their life for the country and this signifies that these soldiers will always be alive in our thoughts.

Kangra Art Museum, Kotwali Bazaar

The riveting Kangra Art Museum is located at the center of Dharamshala in the quaint state of Himachal Pradesh. A must visit place for art lovers and history buffs, this museum has a great collection which embodies various cultures especially that of the Tibetans, due to its close proximity to Tibet. The place is attractive not only for the wealth of information that it can offer on the region’s past, but also for the pleasant location in which it is located. Containing a lot of artifacts which include but are not limited to ancient coins, glinting weapons and stunning sculptures, this place is definitely worth the time spent. The prime attraction of the museum are the miniature paintings which have to be looked into for its intricate and mesmerizing work. The museum also hosts some space where artists can be found painting and displaying their work.

St. John’s Church

This magnificent church is built amid the picturesque valley of Mcleodganj and is located about  3kms away from hotel. The church lies in a dense jungle between Mcleodganj and Forsythganj and is a monument dedicated to Lord Elgin, one of the viceroys of India, who died at Chauntra (Mandi district) and was buried here in 1863 A.D. This classic church, which has a Christian cemetery surrounding it, has lovely glass windows and boost amazing architectural design. It is ideally situated in the majestic ‘Deodar’ forest in the wilderness. The structure is so powerful that it survived the 1905 Kangra earthquake, which killed close to 19,800 people and destroyed most buildings in Kangra, Mcleodganj, and Dharamshala.

Bhagsunag water fall

This enchanting waterfall is located about 6km from Hotel and is easily approachable by road. It is one of the best tourist attractions in Dharamshala and is known for its old temple, a fresh water spring, and slate quarry a waterfall surrounded by stunning cliffs and trees. Tourists can take a dip in the chilly water of this fall and visit the Bhagsunag temple to seek blessing of Lord Shiva. The Bhagsunag Fall falls on the way to Triund, so the tourists can continue with their journey to Triund once they visit this elegant fall. Though, this spectacular waterfall lies a little distance away from the town of Dharamshala, the tourists make sure that they visit this spot, which is also an important place for Hindu pilgrims. The height of this waterfall is approximately 20 meters and it is an absolute marvel to look at, especially during the monsoon. There is a nice cafeteria next to the fall for tourists to indulge in lip-smacking snacks and drinks that are served with warmth.

Dal Lake

Dal Lake is a small mid-altitude lake(1,775 m above sea level) near the village of Tota Rani in Kangra district Himachal Pradesh in northern India. The name ‘Dal Lake’ is taken from Kashmir’s Dal Lake.The lake is surrounded by deodar trees and is considered to be a sacred spot as there is small Shiva mandir(shrine) on its bank. There are different kinds of fish that live in this lake. The lake has greenish water. This lake is situated near Rikkarmar on Balan Dhar. There is also a temple dedicated to ‘Lord Driveshwar’ built by sage Agastya. Dal lake is 2km far away from the hotel.

Dalai Lama Temple (Tsuglakhang Temple)

At a distance of 5km from Hotel, Tsuglagkhang Monastery is the most important Buddhist Monastery situated in McLeod Ganj suburb of Dharmshala in Himachal Pradesh. Tsuglag Khang, also known as Dalai Lama’s Temple complex, is the home for His Holiness Dalai Lama. It is among the world renowned religious centers and is thronged by Buddhist pilgrims throughout the year. Tsuglagkhang Monastery is beautifully built structure. This is more like a temple along with being a residential complex for His Holiness and his followers.The complex houses the Photang (Dalai Lama’s residence), Tibet Museum, Tsuglagkhang Temple, and Namgyal Gompa. The monastery deals with training of monks for rituals associated with holy shrine, whereas the temple is a chief place of worship. A beautifully decorated statue of Lord Buddha along with beautiful statues of Padmasambhava and Avalokiteshvara are housed in the temple.
